Queer histories in the American West are currently severely underrepresented. This new play, based on interviews collected by the Gay Rodeo Oral History Project, aims to advance the cause of tolerance and understanding, and restore the rightful place of individuals silenced or altogether absent from the traditional narrative of the American West. In this unique theatrical form, the actual words of the everyday heroes of Gay Rodeo are brought to life using a theatre-making technique commonly referred to as ‘verbatim’ or ‘documentary’ theatre. Verbatim theatre lives at the intersection of art and journalism.
This presentation is FREE, however, we are asking for donations to support future development of the script and the possibility of a full production.
