Transitioning Land to a New Generation: An Introduction to Farm Succession Planning
February 21, 2023 and February 18, 2023
6:00-7:30 pm PST / 7:00-8:30 pm MST

This free workshop introduces participants to farm succession planning and the steps involved in a farm or ranch transfer within or outside of the family. The first workshop session will provide an overview of getting started with farm or ranch transfer including clarifying values, vision and goals and identifying the people who need to be involved in the transfer process. The second workshop session will discuss the importance of assessing your current financial position and future needs and the position and needs of other parties involved in the farm/ranch transfer and identifying key professional service providers that can support incoming farmers and ranchers and exiting owners during the transfer process. The workshop will conclude with resources and tools for taking the next steps to develop a farm succession/farmland transfer plan.

This workshop is open to all! The Transitioning Land to a New Generation workshop is designed for current landowners and incoming producers who are interested in learning the steps involved in farm succession planning. This includes landholders who may be retiring, planning their estates, or simply want to know more about making land available for a new generation and young and beginning farmers and ranchers looking for land to farm.
